Dear Brasil Ride 2018 participant

There are only a few days left for another edition of this event that will be more than a test, it will be a stage in your life.
Here are some important information that will assist in your planning for this test.

Summary schedule 

  • 20 Oct - Saturday: delivery of the athletes' kit at Vila Brasil Ride in Arraial d'Ajuda (mandatory presentation of a medical certificate and medical information sheet to withdraw the kit). The certificate must be signed and stamped by your doctor.
  • 21 Oct - Sunday: 1st stage (prologue) in Arraial d'Ajuda
  • 22 Oct - Phase of displacement from Arraial d'Ajuda to Vila Brasil Ride camp in Guaratinga.
  • 23 Oct - 3rd stage with start and finish Vila Brasil Ride in Guaratinga.
  • 24 Oct - 4rd stage with start and finish Vila Brasil Ride in Guaratinga.

When in Arraial d'Ajuda, Vila Brasil Ride with its foot in the sand will be at “Uiki Parracho”, Where there will be no camping. Participants must arrange their stays in the dozens of options of hostels, hotels and houses in the region.

Kit withdrawal:
For the removal of the kit, athletes must present the following documents:

  1. A valid photo ID;
  2. Statement of responsibility completed and signed;
  3. UCI athlete card (only open or female athletes who are affiliated to UCI)
  4. Medical certificate, with signature and stamp of the doctor who examined it
  5. Medical information sheet individual, filled in by the athlete with information on his current health status.

Do not confuse "medical certificate" with "medical information sheet". These are separate documents and only athletes who present the 4 documents above will receive the kits and participate in the race

Structure of the two Brasil Ride Villas:

In Arraial, Vila Brasil Ride will be on the sand, where kits will be delivered, starts and finishes for each stage, in addition to the convenience facilities for athletes such as a bar, restaurant, massages, mechanical workshops, shops and lava bike.
The Vila Brasil Ride at Uiki Parracho, faces the sea (Estrada da Pitinga, s / nr). Uiki is about 1,3 km from the center of Arraial d'Ajuda.
In the arena we will have a locker. We suggest that in the stages of Arraial d'Ajuda, athletes should bring dry and beach clothes so that, after each stage, they will be more comfortable and enjoy the beach and good local food.

  • Dinners, briefings, daily award ceremonies, photo and video exhibitions, unlike previous years, will take place in the gymnasium of the Municipal School of Arraial d'Ajuda.

In Guaratinga for three nights (October 22, 23 and 24) Vila Brasil Ride will be at the camp, which is about 130 km from Arraial d'Ajuda and 8 km by dirt roads in the city of Guaratinga. This is a small town in the interior of Bahia with very little hotel structure, but many natural beauties and riches. All athletes, staffs, volunteers and members of the organization will be accommodated at the camp. In the camp area, the cell phone signals Vivo and Claro, with 4G have good data coverage.

Each athlete will be provided with a personal double tent with a foam mattress wrapped in a plastic bag. In the same area there are bungalows, which were previously rented by some athletes. The rented bungalows have:
- Folding bed with mattress;
- Pillow;
- Chair;
- Bath towel;
- Pillow case and sheet;
- Microfiber blanket;
- Fan;
- Pouf
- Internal lighting

The entire infrastructure at Vila Brasil Ride camp was set up on a private farm to receive the athletes, volunteers and members of the organization who will ALL be camped where the overnight stay will be restricted to them. During the day, the public will be allowed to know and follow the race at the camp, respecting the area that will be exclusive to athletes. Accompanying persons, mechanics and family members will be able to visit the camp and circulate through the public area, but after 18:00, it will not be possible to keep camping in the area of ​​the camp and its surroundings.
Among the structure you will find in the camp, we highlight:

  • Exclusive main restaurant for athletes, where breakfast and dinner will be served. It is there that, daily, the awarding of each stage takes place, the briefing of the next stage and the famous daily presentation of photos and videos of the day. It is not allowed to enter a companion.
  • Brasil Ride Lounge, for athletes to rest and socialize
  • Bar area, food and beverage tents, meals available for athletes and the public
  • Bathrooms and showers in containers
  • Massage area
  • Bike wash, for cleaning bikes (For bike washing (bike wash, we will have people operating, where only they can operate the machines to wash your bike).
  • Bike park, to guard the bikes. Only the athlete can remove his bike
  • Shimano Neutral Support
  • Clinic
  • Electricity point for charging cell phones, GPS, cameras ...
  • Water point for consumption

There will be a gastronomic fair on the edge of the camp where they will also have food and drinks. This is an area common to athletes and publishes. The other areas within the camp are for the exclusive use and circulation of athletes.

Technical Congress
We will hold on October 21 (Saturday) at 19:30 the technical congress of the event where the main information will be passed to the athletes, logistics, agenda and rules. The technical congress will take place in the gymnasium of the municipal school of Arraial d'Ajuda, the same place where dinners will be served and where daily award ceremonies will take place. At 19:00 pm at the same location, there will be a press conference of the main athletes present in the competition (Olympic, world and national champions), and this conference will also be open to other athletes and accompanying public.

Proof logistics
It is part of the athletes kit, an exclusive Brasil Ride bag with a capacity of 80 liters. In this bag you must put all the material you will need during the 3 days of camping. This scholarship must be delivered identified to the organization at the Unidas store in the center of Arraial d'Ajuda (Rua Mucugê) on Sunday 21 Oct from 20:00 to 22:00 (the eve of the 2nd stage) and on 22 Oct between 06: 00 and 07:45. At the end of the 2nd stage in the camp in Guaratinga, they must be removed in the dispersion area.
Upon returning to Arraial (Oct 25) the bags will be available at the same place where they delivered from 13:00 pm to 18:30 pm. This bag (and only it) will be transported by the organization to the camp, provided it is identified. No other transport bags will be accepted.
Bike cases will not be transported, and should stay at your accommodation in Arraial d'Ajuda.

Bike Park and displacement in Arraial
In Arraial d'Ajuda, the arena in the sand is located about 1,3km from the center and the restaurant in the municipal school gym is 600m from the center. Athletes will be able to go to the arena and for dinner on their bikes, we will have bike park in these places. They can only leave bicycles that are properly identified with numerals.

Support point on the route
Each stage will have support and hydration points strategically distributed along the route. The location and quantities will be informed in the briefing prior to each stage. At all of these points we will provide water. We will also have daily distributed at some of the support points or on arrival:

  • Fruits
  • Salty cookie
  • Full Gas Sports Supplementation
  • Soft Drink
  • Gum candy
  • Red Bull
  • Solifes Lubrication
  • Cream Chamois Solifes
  • Shimano Neutral Support

To the camp:
The following are tips on what to prepare to carry in your bag for camping:

  • Toiletries: brush and toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, razor blade, diaper ointment, bath towel;
  • Secret preference padlock. It will be used to close your bag and later your tent;
  • Spare clothes for each stage (3 jerseys, 3 breton, 3 socks and gloves);
  • Sleeping bag or small blanket
  • Food supplements for 3 stages. Prepare your doses of supplements in zip-lock bags to decrease weight and space;
  • Sunscreen;
  • Insect repellent;
  • Personal medication;
  • Plastic bag for dirty clothes;
  • Change of underwear (3);
  • Casual clothing: 1 shorts, 1 pants, 1 sneakers, 3 T-shirts, socks and cap;
  • Waterproof jacket and / or windbreaker;
  • Fleece jacket;
  • Head lamp;
  • Cell phone with charger (operators with coverage are Claro and Vivo). Identify your chargers and electronic devices with your name;
  • Benjamin (plug adapter, or “T”, for multiple plug connections). Please note that our sockets are in accordance with the recent Brazilian standard (as shown in the figure below), identify with your name.

Social action
Sport and education are themes that go hand in hand. That is why we would like to invite you to contribute to the education and culture of the children of Arraial d'Ajuda. We will be receiving donations of children's books, in any language, to set up the library of the municipal school of Arraial d'Ajuda, where we will have the dinner and award ceremony in Arraial daily. Deliver your donation at the time of the briefing (21 Oct - 19: 30h).

Frequently asked questions:

What will the bathrooms at Vila Brasil Ride camp look like?
To ensure greater comfort, the bathrooms will be individual containers with hot water. For proper operation, do not discard papers in the toilet and keep it clean. It will not be allowed to wash clothes, gloves and sneakers in any area of ​​the camp (sinks, showers and lava-bike).

Are the showers at the Vila Brasil Ride camp cold?
Also thinking about your comfort, the showers will be hot. However, water in the region is very scarce. Use consciously.

Will there be mechanical service for the bikes?
Yes, in both arenas we will have Shimano Neutral Support. Adjustment, adjustment and repair needs will be handled by the Shimano team.
To make any repairs to your bike, wash it in the bike wash first and hand it clean to Shimano's care. If there is a need to change equipment (chain, gearbox, pads, tires ...) these must be supplied by the athletes or purchased externally and the Shimano team does the installation at no cost.
Many bikes have some custom equipment. For this reason, we suggest that you take reserve hooks, rims, brake pads, etc. etc.

If my bike doesn't have Shimano components, will the Shimano Neutral Support team take care of it?
Yes, because the Shimano team's mission is to provide conditions for you to complete the race and have another stage in your life.

Will there be a massage tent?
Yes, performed by a team of physiotherapists from a specialized sports clinic. But this is a separate service. Advance massage packages are being sold at discounted prices. But it is also possible to hire individually each day directly in the massage tent

How can we charge cell phones and other electrical equipment?
We will have a tent with sockets available to charge cell phones, GPS, camcorders etc. You must bring your own charger identified with your name. We also suggest taking a "Benjamin" (adapter for multiple connections or "T")

Is there a cell phone signal at the camp?
Yes, for Vivo and Claro operators the cell phone signal and 3G data are covered in Arraial d 'Ajuda in the Guaratinga camp.

Can I use a credit card at the camp?
No, the purchase of services, drinks and meals will only be through cash.

Will there be differentiated food for vegetarians?
If you have any restrictions or special needs for food, please send an email to br@brasilride.com.br with the subject “Special Brazil Ride Food” explaining your situation.

Private support team at Vila Brasil Ride in Guaratinga?
If you want to take your own mechanics team to the camp area in Guaratinga, we will have an area for the mechanical teams. For this, it is necessary for the teams to provide their own energy and the use of the lava bike must be exclusively operated by the Brasil Ride staff team (people who are not Brasil Ride staff are not allowed to use the lava bike equipment). There are specific rules and conditions for this situation.
For this case please send email to br@brasilride.com.br with the subject "Personal Mechanical Team" until 12/10/2018 this service has an additional cost and is subject to acceptance of all conditions of the event.

Do you have a bike shop in Vilas Brasil Ride?
Yes, the Specialized store (equipment and clothing), Continental (with tires and sealants), Full Gas (carbohydrate gel) and Shimano store (bicycle components), Solifes (lubricants and chamois cream) will be available in both arenas.

Will companions be allowed in the Vila Brasil Ride camp in Guaratinga?
There will be a common area, where you can follow the arrival, see the stalls and with the Local Gastronomic area selling drinks and food. But there is another area where only the movement of athletes and members involved in the organization of the event will be allowed. Access will be controlled to ensure safety, comfort and infrastructure designed for the direct participants of the event.
This will be a unique experience of conviviality between athletes and nature, get ready for that emotion.

Dear participant of Brazil Ride 2018

There are only a few days left for another edition of this event that will be more than a race, it will be a stage in your life.
Here's some important information that will help you in your planning for the race.

Summarized schedule 

  • Saturday, October 20th: athletes' kit delivery in Villa Brasil Ride, Arraial d'Ajuda (mandatory submission of the Medical Certificate and Medical Information Form for the kit collection). The medical certificate must be signed and stamped by your doctor.
  • Sunday, October 21st - 1st stage, (prologue) in Arraial d'Ajuda

While in Arraial d'Ajuda, Villa Brasil Ride venue is located at the ocean front "uiki parracho", and there is no possibility to camp. Participants should take care of their own lodging, in one of the dozens of" pousadas ", hotels and rental homes in town.

Kit collection:
The following documents must be presented for kit collection:

  1. A valid ID card with photo;
  2. Term of responsibility completed and signed;
  3. UCI ID card (for UCI registered athletes only);
  4. Medical certificate, signed and stamped by the physician;
  5. Our Team Medical Information Form, duly filled by the athlete, informing their current health conditions.

Please do not mistake “Medical Certificate" for “Medical Information Form”. They are two different documents, and must be presented on check-in, along with the other documents mentioned above, in order to complete the registration.

Villa Brasil Ride structures:

In Arraial d'Ajuda, Villa Brasil Ride will have an ocean front location, and host kit collection, start and finish of stages, and convenience facilities for athletes, such as a bar, restaurant, massage lounge, bike repair and parts shops, and bike wash.
Villa Brasil Ride at Uiki Parracho, is located by the ocean (Estrada da Pitinga, s / nr). Uiki is about 1.3 Km from downtown Arraial d'Ajuda.
We will offer locker rooms at the arena. We advise athletes to take clean clothes to the stages in Arraial d'Ajuda, so that they can enjoy the beach and some local food after the race.

  • Different from previous years, dinners, briefings, daily award ceremonies, and photo and video exhibitions will take place at the “Escola Municipal de Arraial d'Ajuda” (school) gymnasium.

In Guaratinga for three nights (October 22nd, 23rd and 24th) the Villa Brasil Ride will be set up along with the campsite, which is about 130 Km from Arraial d'Ajuda, and 8 Km from the city of Guaratinga, by dirt roads. There will be one tent with a mattress (wrapped in plastic) for each athlete. There will be bungalows available for rent at the area, offering:
- Folding bed with mat;
- Pillow;
- Chair;

- Pillow case and sheet;
- Microfiber blanket;
- Fan;
- Poof, and
- Internal lighting.

Villa Brasil Ride infrastructure was set up in a private farm to receive the athletes, volunteers and members of the organization, and EVERYONE will be lodged there. Only the above mentioned people will be allowed to spend the night. During the day, the public will be allowed to visit the camp and watch the race, respecting the area that will be exclusive to the athletes. Friends, mechanics and family members will be allowed in the public areas, but after 6 pm, people that are not in the race structure will not be allowed to stay in camp or surroundings.
The highlights in the camp structure are:

  • Main restaurant for athletes, where breakfast and dinner will be served. This is where daily awards for each stage will take place, as well as briefings for the next stages, and the famous daily photo and video exhibitions. Traveling companions will not be allowed in.
  • Brasil Ride Lounge, for athletes' socialization and rest
  • Snack bar area, food and beverage tents, with meals available for athletes and the public
  • Restrooms and showers in containers

  • Bike wash for cleaning bikes (only members of the bike wash staff can operate the machines to wash your bike)
  • Bike park, for securely parking your bike. Only athletes can pick up their own bikes

There will be a food fair on the surroundings of the camp where food and drinks can be purchased. This is a common area for athletes and the public. The other areas within the camp are for use and circulation of the athletes only.

technical meeting
On Saturday, October 21st, we will hold the technical meeting of the event at 7:30 pm, when the race director will take you through everything there is to know about the race, such as logistics, agenda and rules. The technical meeting will take place at the “Municipal School of Arraial d'Ajuda” (school) gymnasium, as well as dinners and daily award ceremonies. At 7:00 pm, we will also hold a press conference with the main athletes present in the competition (Olympic, world and national champions). Press conference is open to other athletes and public.

race logistics
In the registration kit, athletes will receive an 80-liter Brasil Ride duffel bag. Everything you will use in the three days at the camp must be packed in this bag. The bag must be delivered to the organization at the Unidas store downtown Arraial d'Ajuda (Mucugê street) on Sunday, October 21st from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm (on the eve of the 2nd stage) and / or on October 22nd betweem 6:00 and 7:45 am Athletes can retreive their bags upon arriving at the camp in Guaratinga, at the dispersion area.
Back in Arraial (October 25th), the bags will be available from 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm, at the same place they have been dropped. The organization will only carry those duffel bags that are identified wit a name tag, from Arraial to Guaratinga and back. No other kind of bag will be accepted.
Bike or wheel cases and bags will not be transported, and must be stored at your hotel in Arraial d'Ajuda.

Bike Park and moving around Arraial
In Arraial d'Ajuda, the arena is located 1.3 Km from downtown, and the restaurant, at the gymnasium, is located at 600 meters from downtown. Athletes can move around to the arena and dinner on their bikes - we will have bike parks in both places. Only bikes identified with number plates will be accepted in the bike parks.

Assistance on the course
Each stage will have assistance points strategically located along the course, with water and food. The location will be informed during the briefings previous to each stage. All assistance points will have water available. At some points along the route, as well at the finish line, we will offer:

  • Fruit

Suggestions for camping:
Here's some tips for what to bring in your duffel bag to camp:

  • Personal care articles: tooth brush and tooth paste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, razor, chafing cream, towel;
  • Padlock (preferably combination). It will be used to lock your bag, and then to secure your tent;
  • Clothes for each stage (3 jerseys, 3 bibs, 3 pairs of socks and gloves);
  • Sleeping bag or a small blanket;
  • Supplements for the three stages. Prepare your doses in ziplocks to save weight and space;
  • Sunscreen;
  • Insect repellent;
  • Personal medication;
  • Plastic bag for dirty clothes;
  • Clean underwear (3 pairs);
  • Casual clothes: 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of pants, 1 pair of shoes, 3 shirts, socks, and cap;

What you MUST NOT do during Brasil Ride

  1. Do not jump over fences when lining up for the start;
  2. Do not follow any non-signaled course;
  3. Do not wash clothes / shoes / helmets on camp (sinks, showers ...);
  4. Do not climb on the podium wearing sandals or flip flops;
  5. Do not dispose of litter or packages along the course;

FAQ:

How do the bathrooms at Villa Brasil Ride camp look like?
In order to guarantee your comfort, bathrooms will be set up in containers with individual boxes and hot water. In order to keep the good functionality of toilets, please do not dispose toilet papers or any kind of trash in the toilet bowl, please keep it clean and use the trash bin. Washing apparel will not be allowed in any area of ​​the camp (bins, showers or bike wash).

Are the showers at Villa Brasil Ride cold?
Also thinking about your comfort, showers will be hot. Nevertheless, water is scarce in the region. Please use it consciously.

Will there be mechanical service for the bikes?
Yes, we will have Shimano Neutral Assistance in both arenas. Tuning, adjustments, and repairs will be taken care of by the Shimano team.
If you need any assistance for your bike, please wash it first, and take it clean to the Shimano guys. In case there is the need for replacement parts (chain, derraileur, brake pads, tires ...) they must be delivered by the athletes, and Shimano team will make the replacement at no cost.
Some bikes have personalized parts. Thus, we suggest you take spare dropouts, spokes, brake pads etc.

Will Shimano Neutral Assistance take care of my bike if it doesn't use Shimano parts?
Yes, since Shimano's team mission is to allow you to finish the race, and live another stage in your life.

Will there be a massage lounge?
Yes, offered by a team of physical therapists from a specialized sports clinic. This service must be purchased. Massage packages can be purchased in advance with promotioal prices. You can also buy individual sessions at the lounge, with the normal price.

How can we charge cell phones and other electronics?
We will have a tent with power outlets for charging cell phones, GPS, cameras etc. You must take your own charger with your name tag. We also suggest you bring a "tap" (multiple connection outlet).

Will there be cellular signal in the camp?
Yes, Vivo and Claro mobile operators offer cellular signal and 3G data coverage in Arraial d 'Ajuda and at the camp in Guaratinga.

Can I use my credit card at the camp?
No, you must use cash to purchase services, drinks and food at the camp.

Will there be special food for vegetarians?
In case you have restrictions or special food needs, please send and e-mail to br@brasilride.com.br with the subject “Special meals for Brasil Ride” explaining your situation.

Private assistance team at Villa Brasil Ride in Guaratinga?
In case you need to take your own mechanical team to the camp in Guaratinga, we have an area for the mechanics. In this case, you should take care of your own power lines, and the bike wash must be exclusively operated by the Brasil Ride staff. There are specific rules for this situation.

Yet, there is a restricted area, where only athletes and staff members will be allowed. The access will be controlled, in order to guarantee safety, comfort and infrastructure, calculated for the direct participants of the event.
