Gravel Race # 1 2019

Botucatu-SP

27 April 2019

Try it now

Brasil Ride presents another novelty in cycling competitions: Gravel Race.
Characterized by the mixture of road / off-road terrain, competitions of this style have their most rustic forms and are quite common on the international stage.
At the forefront of outdoor events, especially cycling, Botucatu will present this new modality to pedal lovers and their enthusiasts. Challenging race through gravel and asphalt roads. At the end, an award ceremony with tasty foods and craft drinks (The consumption of drinks and food is at the consumer's expense).
In the Gravel Race, sports lovers will experience a Saturday (27/04) in a happy hour atmosphere. The traditional Finisher shirt, present at the ultramarathon, will be replaced by a draft beer mug for socializing with friends and family after the event. Lots of live music with the spirit that a gravel bike offers us. A special guest will make this party even more special: the American Ned Overend, The Captain, legend of world cycling.

E-GRAVEL

E-GRAVEL

Gravel bikes are consistently touted as the best "do it all" bikes, so it's no surprise that electric versions are starting to take off. For those looking to compete, a growing number of events like SANTANDER DIVERGE GRAVEL RACE now have an e-gravel bike category, increasing the appeal of this expanding market.
The mix of off-road capability, confidence-inspiring stability and additional assistance make gravel electric bikes an interesting proposition, not just for off-road rides, but also as urban transport bikes.

BRAZIL RIDE GRAVEL RACE REGULATION

This document defines the rules of BRASIL RIDE GRAVEL RACE. Participants will cycle with specific bikes in areas that mix asphalt and rural roads with stones and gravel. Cyclists are solely responsible for their safety and the consequences of their decisions along the way.
The course will start and finish at the same place. Most of the route is on uneven terrain and gravel roads. Therefore, in unfavorable weather conditions, such as rain, these roads can accumulate puddles and mud. Every road is open to normal vehicle traffic. Respect traffic rules. Be prudent!

1) Organizers, sponsors, promoters and staff are not responsible for your safety. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU

2) For the purpose of this event the “BIKE” is defined as: vehicle consisting of a frame mounted on two wheels, one behind the other, and having a saddle, DROP handlebar (road type) with handles on the curves and surfaces covered with tape specific for steering, two manual brakes propelled by the cyclist by two pedals connected to the rear wheel by a chain or strap. E-bikes will not be allowed.

3) All roads are open to local traffic. For your safety, be aware of your surroundings. Thus, the use of headphones are prohibited

4) All participants must register on the event website, click here, until 25/04/2019. The withdrawal of the kit will be on Saturday 27/04/2019 and it is mandatory to present a photo ID.

5) Participants are responsible for printing their regulations and / or route tips. The route may have a limited number of markings to assist the cyclist. Participants can load the route on their GPS before the event to aid navigation.

6) There will be checkpoints along the route where cyclists must check in.

7) The cutoff points will be established at the control points. Any participant who does not arrive at the checkpoints within the established time will be cut from the event. Any participant, even within the control point after the deadline, will not be allowed to continue in the race. The limit times of the control points will be considered according to the average speed between each point in order to preserve the physical integrity and safety of the cyclist.

8) External assistance will not be allowed. Rules 9, 10, 11 and 12 are not considered external aid

9) Race participants can receive mechanical support and navigation assistance from other participants, or in neutral Shimano support.

10) Each participant must have at least one staff to pick him up on the route in case of withdrawal. Several cyclists can have the same staff. Remember, the organization will not rescue you, just in case of an accident. You are responsible for you!

11) RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM A SUPPORT TEAM OR ANY OTHER NON PARTICIPANT OVER THE ROUTE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.

12) Participants can buy food, water and other supplies at bars / stores along the route. Participants can receive “neutral” assistance from local residents. “Neutral” assistance is defined as support that is spontaneously offered to all event participants in a stationary, that is, non-mobile manner. In other words, it's okay to receive a can of soda / food from a resident sitting on a chair on your property. What is not allowed is receiving help from a vehicle parked on the route. Guys, this rule is simple. Do not do something that is not allowed.

13) Support staff is not allowed along the route, except to rescue your cyclist if you have given up. In case of identification of the car providing support to the cyclist, he will be automatically disqualified. This goes against the spirit of self-sufficiency in this modality. It is unfair to other participants and will not be allowed.

14) Participants cannot travel the route in any way other than on a bicycle or on foot

15) The main route must be followed at all times. No shortcuts or alternate routes are allowed. The course can be changed by the race direction due to bad weather or any other unforeseen event. These changes, if they occur, will be notified to cyclists.

16) Cyclists must remain within the boundaries of the roads at all times. If the road is bordered by fences, stay between them. If the road is open, stay on it. Leaving the road you will be cutting the route. Jumping is an invasion of private property and, as such, punishable by law. The organization will cooperate fully with local law and violators will be penalized accordingly.

17) If you intentionally leave the route to get food, water or any other reason, you must return to the same place where you left. If you get lost you should try to find the exact location as quickly as possible without gaining any ADVANTAGE.
NOTE: “ADVANTAGE” is not defined by race position.

18) Participants must complete the course with the same bicycle frame that started the race. All other components and equipment can be repaired or replaced during the race.

19) Bicycles must have two brakes, front and rear, working. COASTER-type brakes do not meet this requirement.

20) Participants must wear a helmet duly approved by the regulatory body.

21) Participants must respect local traffic laws

22) Vacuum in another participant is allowed. Vacuum in a non-participating cyclist or in a motor vehicle will result in disqualification.

23) You are on your own. Use your head. All roads are open for normal vehicle traffic

24) Any appeal must be made by the duly registered cyclist by 19:00 pm on April 27, 04

MANDATORY ITEMS:
- Two air chambers
- Air bomb
- Minimum 1 L of water / sports drinks
- Cell phone
- Document
- A lot of mood

NEWSLETTER

For the purpose of this event the “BIKE” is defined as: vehicle consisting of a frame mounted on two wheels, one behind the other, and having a saddle, DROP handlebars (road type) with levers in curves and surfaces covered with specific steering tape, two manual brakes propelled by the cyclist by two pedals connected to the rear wheel by a chain or strap.
