October, 2021 - Two cyclists who were in the top 5 of the World Marathon Championship (XCM) last weekend, the Portuguese José Dias and the Belgian Wout Alleman, third and fourth placed in the competition, respectively, promise to reach the top at Santander Brasil Ride Bahia 2021, with credentials to be protagonists of the 11th edition of the event, between the 7th and 13th of November, in Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro, and Guaratinga.
If not enough the excellent result in the 2021 edition of the international competition held on Elba, Italy, they will still have two champion athletes from Santander Brasil Ride at their side, forming teams of the Buff® Scott MTB Team and the DMT Racing Team.
While José Dias will partner with three-time ultramarathon champion, Dutchman Hans Becking, Belgian Wout Alleman will race alongside none other than Tiago Ferreira, cyclist who, in addition to winning the Santander Brasil Ride twice, has already won the World Championship and two-time European champion, both in the Marathon mode (XCM).
"If Hans and Tiago came to Santander Brasil Ride Bahia several times as those responsible for captaining their teams in search of the title, this time the scenario will be a little different. Their partners, José Dias and Wout Alleman, respectively, will be in Brazil at a great moment in their careers. This only excites us more to see a high level dispute in the ultramarathon in November, in the extreme south of Bahia", comments Mario Roma, founder of Santander Brasil Ride.
Event reaches its 11th edition - Considered the Giro d'Italia of the world MTB, the ultramarathon scheduled for the period between the 7th and 13th of November, offers a strong challenge to the participants. For seven days, they have 600 km ahead of them and almost 11.000 m of accumulated altitude, between trails and dirt roads that link Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Guaratinga, in Vila Santander Brasil Ride. On the last day of the competition, Saturday (13), cyclists from all over the country join the stars of international mountain bikes to compete in the Marathon of Discoveries. A unique opportunity to cycle and see the best mountain bikers in the world up close.
