Category Iron Rider debuts at Brasil Ride and will define first double champion among triathletes

To participate in the contest, both cyclists must have participated in at least one long distance triathlon event (3,9 km swimming / 180 km cycling / 42,1 km running) or two intermediate triathlon events (1,8 km swimming / 90 km cycling / 21 km running)

Sao Paulo-SP) - Main mountain bike ultramarathon in the Americas and one of the most difficult of its kind in the world, Brasil Ride innovates once again. For the first time in its history, it will feature a unique category for triathlon practitioners, Iron Rider. Between October 20 and 26, the tenth edition of the event will be held in Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro and Guaratinga, both municipalities in the extreme south of Bahia.

"Nothing better than the tenth edition, so special and significant, for us to debut yet another category that not only is here to stay, but I am sure that it will grow in the coming years. Again we are pioneers, just like when we created the Nelore (both cyclists must weigh more than 90 kg). To participate in the Iron Rider it is simple, the athletes just have to prove the conclusion of a long distance triathlon event, with the sum of 226 km between swimming, pedaling and running, or so they have finished the intermediate distance of approximately 113 km twice ", explains Mario Roma, founder of Brasil Ride.

It will be up to 12 cyclists to launch the category in search of the unprecedented title in the competition. The six pairs are: Bruno Ryker and Pedro Vinícius Sipriano (Aptidão Esportiva), from Brasília (DF); Gerson Doll and Luis Guilherme Miola (Studio 220 / Bullseye), from Curitiba (PR); Bruno Joaquim and Eduardo Sovierzoski (Team GR Aventura), from Curitiba; Absamar Barreto and Humberto Ribeiro Júior (Formulize / Policlinica Vida), from Vitória da Conquista (BA) and Barreiras (BA), respectively; Bruno de Souza and Gustavo Vilella (R2K), from Uberlândia (MG) and Montes Claros (MG), respectively; and Darley Cardoso and Julia Heide (Tripedal.net), from Brasília.

Countries represented in the tenth edition - In all, 570 cyclists are registered for the tenth edition of the ultramarathon and represent 24 countries: Germany, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Cyprus, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Spain, United States, Ecuador, France, Holland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland and Venezuela.

Tenth Edition - Considered the Giro d'Itália of the world MTB, the ultramarathon scheduled for October 20-26, in the Extreme South of Bahia, offers a strong challenge for the 570 participants from 23 countries. For seven days, they face about 600 km and almost 11.000 m of accumulated altimetry, between trails and dirt roads that connect Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Guaratinga, at Vila Brasil Ride. On the last day of the competition, on Saturday (26), more than 1.500 cyclists from all over the country join the stars of international mountain biking for the dispute of the Marathon of the Discoveries. A unique opportunity to cycle and see up close the best mountain bikers in the world.

The Brasil Ride ultramarathon is sponsored by the Government of Bahia, through SETRE, Bahiatursa and SUDESB, Land Rover, Shimano, Specialized and Unidas.
