Santander Brasil Ride Bahia reaches its 11th edition with remodeled stages and the promise of strong disputes

Arena of competition will have the first day of activities this Saturday (6), with the removal of the kit. The kickoff will be on Sunday afternoon (7), with the prologue in Arraial d'Ajuda - Porto Seguro. All news can be followed on the Brasil Ride Stage News program

November, 2021 - The air in the extreme south of Bahia already breathes the purest mountain bike. And that happens, because this weekend the 11th edition of Santander Brasil Ride Bahia begins, the main premium stage race in the world, with offices in Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, and Guaratinga. From 11:6 am this Saturday (13), the Santander Brasil Ride arena will be open for the collection of athlete kits and there will pass some of the best mountain bikers in Brazil and in the world. The next day, at 1pm, the prologue will begin, in which every 30:16 am, two teams will start to dispute the long-awaited title of the competition in its various categories. From the 20,8th start, the time is shortened, with the flagged every minute, for the participants to face a course of 327 km and XNUMX m of accumulated altitude.

If some of the European stars of mountain bike cycling are among the main favorites for the title, like the duos formed by Tiago Ferreira (POR)/Wout Alleman (BEL), Hans Becking (HOL)/José Dias (POR), Periklis Ilias (GRE )/Andreas Miltiadis (CYP), strong teams made up of Brazilian cyclists also promise to give work to foreigners, with highlights such as Gustavo Xavier/Alex Malacarne, Edson Rezende/Ulan Galinski, Sherman Trezza/Lukas Kaufmann, Mario Veríssimo/Kennedi Sampaio, Halysson Ferreira /Peter Hilo. 

"It's no wonder that Santander Brasil Ride Bahia is considered the Giro d'Italia of the world MTB. It will be seven days of many emotions in the 600 km and 13.000m of accumulated altitude, between Arraial and Guaratinga. We will have Brazilian athletes coming from 27 on the trails. states and a total of 18 countries represented, which shows the magnitude of our event. As always, the public that loves cycling is the one who gains from it", comments Mario Roma, founder of the ultramarathon.

What's New in Steps - While the traditional prologue does not have many changes, only with more stretches of trail and less of the road, stage 2 - which connects Arraial to Guaratinga - will have a shorter route, but without major news. Days 3 and 4 of the event promise the athletes' main adventures. Before in stage 4, the dreaded climb of the "Seven Voltas" will be the icing on the cake in stage 3. The next day, in Stage Queen, the athletes will be tested to the extreme, with a steep mountain range, for approximately 8 km and 600 m of unevenness, this being the most difficult climb of the seven days.

The fifth stage will be similar to previous years, being the longest of the seven days, with about 140 km. On the sixth day, the traditional Cross Country (XC) will feature 80% of a single track, in other words, fun for cyclists, with typical beach vegetation with Atlantic Forest. The decision, on the day of the Marathon of Discoveries, will have about 20% news.

Vila Santander Brazil Ride - Vila Santander Brasil Ride is ready in Guaratinga. The place is a city for 1.100 people, where 5.400 high-end meals, juices and desserts are served. It has a gigantic structure, with 80 tons of equipment, assembled in an area of ​​10 hectares for four days of competitions. There are 1.100 tents, two 100-meter deep artesian wells, with five pumps that extract and distribute 800 liters of water to various areas of the camp/city, tents for restaurants, including one for 700 people, 10 km of underground wires, 48 hot water showers, sponsor tents and a medical cart with beds and ICU. 

growth and recognition - If inside the lanes the fight promises to catch fire when it receives some of the best cyclists in the world ranking, outside them the highlight is also remarkable. In addition to granting naming rights for all the Tour Brasil Ride races to the Santander bank until the end of 2022, other world-renowned companies also reinforce the team of brands that are alongside the event, such as Jeep and Continental Pneus, joining strong companies like Unidas, Specialized and Shimano, among others. Facts like this justify the growing interest of the media, sponsors and, of course, participants, who form an eclectic squad.

The Ministry of Citizenship and the Special Secretariat for Sports present Santander Brasil Ride Bahia, through the Sports Incentive Law. The event, which reaches its 2021th edition in 11, is sponsored by the Government of Bahia, through SETRE (Department of Labour, Income, Employment and Sports), Santander, Specialized, Jeep, Shimano and Unidas. It has the support of Continental, Full Gas, HB, Garmin, RedBull, Spot, Squirt, Thule, in addition to having the city halls of Porto Seguro and Guaratinga and Instituto Brasil Ride as institutional supporters of the event.
