Sao Paulo-SP) - The tenth edition of Brasil Ride, one of the main mountain biking ultramarathons in the world, has everything to be historic not only on the trails, but also outside them. If the interest of cyclists from all over the world to compete in the event, between October 20 and 26, in the Extreme South of Bahia, is evident by the fact that the race quickly reaches the limit of 500 registrants, the demand of international media to cover also draws attention.
The interest of vehicles from abroad has increased. The Great Race program, from the Japanese open TV channel NHK, and Rad Sport Szene, from Austria, intend to send their teams to cover the competition, which for the fourth consecutive year has stages in Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, and in the municipality of Guaratinga. "We are very happy that more and more foreign vehicles are looking for us to come to our country, more precisely to Bahia, to accompany Brasil Ride. That is, showing the internationalization of our ultramarathon year by year", comments Mario Roma, founder of the race.
The Great Race program on NHK TV in Japan exemplifies the magnitude that Brasil Ride will achieve, with the forecast of having a single 90-minute episode on the tenth edition of the ultramarathon held in Bahia, with an audience of just 1,5 million people the first time the episode is aired, that is, the number increases to more than 2 million with the re-views, not to mention other international media that publicize the evidence. About 16 people from the production team, coordinated by a New Zealand production company, are expected to attend the event in October, to film every kilometer of the race. The Rad Sport Szene magazine, on the other hand, will also feature video production, to record the moments of their "media riders" duo.
Eternal retirement - Another renowned MTB cyclist chose Brasil Ride as proof to have his "grand finale" in the sport. After the Czech Jiri Novak, in 2017, when he won the third ultra marathon championship alongside Henrique Avancini, and the double world champion, the Belgian Roel Paulissen, who together with the miner Hugo Prado Neto made their goodbyes in 2018, this time the Portuguese Luis Leão Pinto has his retirement scheduled for Brasil Ride. Champion in 2012 alongside his fellow countryman Tiago Ferreira, Luis will compete with Spaniard Enrique Morcillo in the tenth edition of the event. All the moments of the Buff Scott MTB Team duo will be recorded by a video team, bringing to thousands of other people the emotions of this special race for the Portuguese cyclist.
Approves - Considered the Giro d'Itália of the world MTB, the ultramarathon scheduled for October 20 to 26, in the Extreme South of Bahia, offers a strong challenge for the 500 participating athletes from all over the world. For seven days, they face about 600 km and almost 11.000 m of accumulated altimetry, between trails and dirt roads that connect Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Vila Brasil Ride, built annually in Guaratinga. On the last day of the competition, on Saturday (26), more than 1.200 cyclists from all over the country join the stars of international mountain biking, for the dispute of the Marathon of the Discoveries. A unique opportunity to cycle and see up close the best mountain bikers in the world.
