Sao Paulo-SP) - In ten years doing the main mountain bike ultramarathon in the Americas, the Brasil Ride organization has always tried to leave its contribution wherever it goes. This year, a partnership with the concessionaire responsible for the Pau Brasil National Park (PNPB), BR Parques, promises a legacy, this time for tourists from Porto Seguro, Arraial d'Ajuda and Trancoso, in the extreme south of Bahia. With several ideas to attract visitors to the place, the manager and Brasil Ride propose something unique: being able to cycle on the same trail that the best cyclists in the world travel annually in the race.

"We are in contact with the concessionaire of the Pau Brasil National Park and they are very interested in making the Brasil Ride stages within the PNPB a tourist spot for those who visit there. I am sure that from the moment that this idea is available in packages from local agencies, people will be interested. Visiting the place is already special because you can relive the history of the beginning of Brazil. Being able to cycle then, on the same trail that the best in the world cycle, this is priceless to pay ", comments Mario Roma, founder of Brasil Ride

BR Parques is the concessionaire that has managed the Pau Brasil National Park since the end of 2018 and has had the concession for 15 years. As it is still a very virgin park in terms of visitation, it is being structured to offer increasingly better services to tourists and the new administration is looking for attractions such as cycling to arouse the interest of those visiting the Porto Seguro region. and its beaches.

"When we started managing the contract, we had already heard about Brasil Ride. At this moment, we are in a preliminary phase of studies and implementation of the new attractions. Two months ago we opened the Park to visitors without making publicity, just to better understand together the tourism agencies the Porto Seguro market. We are gradually structuring ourselves for the public we want to reach ", says Thiago Durães, from BR Parques.

"With the spotlight on Brasil Ride, which reaches its tenth edition, we made contact with Mario Roma to develop the park's vocations, which can go beyond its natural wealth, flora and fauna. We went after what the PNPB has, to attract visitors to the Porto Seguro region, in addition to the beach leisure, "adds Thiago Durães.

Permanent experience in the Park - The goal is for Brasil Ride to stop being an event that occurs annually in the region, to become a permanent experience, where athletes and visitors can experience a stretch of the ultramarathon with similar characteristics and support, in an environment of spectacular nature. The idea is to encourage sport, interaction with the environment and take the opportunity to enjoy a walk that besides being in a forest of native Atlantic forest, goes back to the history of the discovery of Brazil.

Thus, through infrastructures to be implemented such as: Espaço Ciclista (Espaço Brasil Ride) - dedicated to the sport of mountain biking - with rental of bicycles and high quality equipment; equipment support and maintenance; trails dedicated to the sport with varying levels of difficulty; dedicated visual signage; operational support in general - it is proposed that the Pau Brasil National Park becomes a “Brasil Ride” experience and a reference in the sport.

"The Brasil Ride ultramarathon takes place once a year, but why don't we have this experience permanently? The idea is to invest in this proposal and show the visitor that he is taking part in an international competition, one of the largest in the world. This is in line with the line that Mario talks a lot about, leaving a legacy. We will have a milestone not only for BR Parques, which will stay there for 15 years, but something forever for mountain biking. As a dealership we want to develop this aspect and Brasil Ride, connected with the athletes, can help us in this partnership. The park has this vocation and we will evolve in this proposal going forward ", concludes the manager of BR Parques.

Tenth Edition - Considered the Giro d'Itália of the world MTB, the ultramarathon scheduled for October 20-26, in the Extreme South of Bahia, offers a strong challenge for the 570 participants from 23 countries. For seven days, they face about 600 km and almost 11.000 m of accumulated altimetry, between trails and dirt roads that connect Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Guaratinga, at Vila Brasil Ride. On the last day of the competition, on Saturday (26), more than 1.500 cyclists from all over the country join the stars of international mountain biking for the dispute of the Marathon of the Discoveries. A unique opportunity to cycle and see up close the best mountain bikers in the world.

The Brasil Ride ultramarathon is sponsored by the Government of Bahia, through SETRE, Bahiatursa and SUDESB, Land Rover, Shimano, Specialized and Unidas. Conect Car, Ful Gas, Garmin, LAF Corretora de Seguros, La Maglia, Oakley, Red Bull, Shop2gether, Squirt, Thule and Vittoria are supporting companies, as well as the municipalities of Porto Seguro and Guaratinga, as well as the Pau Brasil National Park , are institutional supporters of the event.
