Porto Seguro (BA) - The 10th edition of Brasil Ride ended this Saturday (26th) in great style, crowning champions in ten categories in Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro (BA). In all, more than 2.500 cyclists from 23 countries were gathered on the last day of the event, with the Discovery Marathon taking place in parallel to the seventh and decisive stage of the event. After closing, everyone is sure that the event was successful.
"Very happy with the conclusion of another edition of Brasil Ride, the largest mountain bike ultramarathon in the Americas, elected by many as the most difficult in the world. After the end of the event, we received the return of several athletes from different parts of the world , with several compliments and constructive criticisms about the race, which makes us very satisfied. In conversation with the members of UCI (União Ciclística Internacional), present in the race, we also heard several words of congratulations, that is, we are really happy for another season concluded ", evaluated Mario Roma, founder of Brasil Ride, adding that the race has grown more than 20% this year.
Antonio Vink, commissioner of the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC), who coordinated the technical part together with the UCI agrees with Mario Roma. "We saw a huge evolution over the past year in the structure, in the condition for us to work and for the athletes. Rafael Campos, general director, Mario Roma, organizer, and the entire administrative and hydration team did a sensational job. Everyone left happy I talked to several cyclists, who were very satisfied. Every year, Brasil Ride gets better. The team tries hard, the structure is good and the place is sensational. Bahia is a very good place to be ", he summarized.
All winners - In the two main categories of the event, the male and female elites, the champions held their party and were able to celebrate with the public by the sea. A great mountain bike party, which had the Portuguese Tiago Ferreira and the Dutchman Hans Becking at the top step of the open podium, and the Brazilian Viviane Favery and Tânia Clair Pickler as champions among women. The best pairs in the Americas were Edson Rezende and Nicolas Sessler (American Man) and Jaqueline Mourão and Danilas Ferreira (American Woman).
In the mixed and master pair, the dominance was total of the Portuguese: José Silva alongside Celina Carpinteiro and Tiago Clamote together with Tiago Silva were the winners. In the grand master, the winners were also two foreigners, the Argentine Pablo Rodrigues and the Venezuelan Raul Navarro. In the nelore the title went to Robson Mendes and Aldenio Bandeira, a pair from Costa Rica, in Mato Grosso do Sul, headquarters of the 24h World Cup, the corporate was won by the trio Wagner Quirino, André Di Carlo and Enrico Sampaio, and finally the debutant iron rider had the triumph of Bruno Ryker and Pedro Vinicius Ferreira.
Overcoming champions - Nationally recognized for being the event that most encourages athletes in the PCD category (people with disabilities), this year Brasil Ride had three participants: Adauto Belli, blind in both eyes, who competed on a double bike (tandem) with support from Weimar Pettengill, Bruno Paim, cyclist without both arms, and Paulo Santana, who does not have the right leg. "I come to Bahia, I take the test, I suffer and I have fun. But when I come home, I'm already thinking about the next edition", commented Adauto Belli.

10th edition countries - 570 cyclists from 23 countries participated in the tenth edition of the ultramarathon: Germany, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Cyprus, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Spain, United States, Ecuador, France, Holland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland and Venezuela.
Tenth edition - Considered the Giro d'Itália of the world MTB, the ultramarathon held from October 20 to 26, in the Extreme South of Bahia, was a strong challenge for the 570 participants from 23 countries. For seven days, they faced about 600 km and almost 11.000 m of accumulated altimetry, between trails and dirt roads that connect Arraial d'Ajuda, in Porto Seguro, to Guaratinga, at Vila Brasil Ride. On the last day of the competition, this Saturday (26th), more than 1.800 cyclists from all over the country join the stars of the international mountain bike for the dispute of the Marathon of the Discoveries.
The Brasil Ride ultramarathon was sponsored by the Government of Bahia, through SETRE, Bahiatursa and SUDESB, Land Rover, Shimano, Specialized and Unidas.
