Brasil Ride Ultra Trail Run 70k has a record of subscribers and five confirmed countries

Third edition of the event will be held on Saturday (9) and will have the participation of 1.300 athletes in Cuesta Paulista, in its first year on the calendar of the International Mountain Running Association

Botucatu (SP) - With record number of participants - 1.300 registered athletes - the third edition of Brasil Ride Ultra Trail Run 70k will be held this Saturday (9th), in Botucatu, in the Cuesta Paulista region, bringing some news. For the first time, the race will be part of the International Mountain Running Association (ITRA) calendar. In this way, it will offer four points in the entity's ranking, out of a total of five possible for those who complete the 70k. Another innovation is in the new distance, the 32 km, which joins the traditional 70, 16 and 5 km. At the event, runners from 16 Brazilian states and four other countries - Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Portugal will be in action.

"We brought to mountain races the same expertise and know-how from our mountain bike races. That is, athletes who go to Botucatu to compete in the Ultra Trail Run 70k can expect, for the third consecutive year, the Brasil Ride standard of organization , with several hydration points in strategic locations along the route and perfect signage for the route. In addition, we will have a good cash prize (R $ 12 thousand) for the 70k participants, which also helps to raise the level of the competitors " , says Mario Roma, founder of Brasil Ride.

With the entry of the mountain race on the calendar of the international organization, Brasil Ride Ultra Trail Run 70k becomes the only event in Brazil to offer four points in the ITRA ranking and becomes the largest event in the country. "The great events performed abroad require that athletes have proven experience in the sport. And, it is through this score, that they are accredited to compete in several international events ", says Rafael Campos, race director of Brasil Ride.

"To run the Ultra Trail of Mont Blanc, for example, in the 120 km race, the athlete needs to have added eight points in events that are part of the international calendar. If the runner wants a bigger challenge, in a 220 km race , you need to accumulate 12 points. That is, the score he adds according to the distance and the degree of difficulty of the mountain races in which he participated ", explains Rafael. "We had an increase in the number of subscribers in the 70k distance, thanks to this novelty, and we also started the 32k with many subscribers, more than 300, which really is a success", adds the director.

In the 70k, the athletes will go up and down the mountains of the Cuesta Paulista at four different points, which will give a great altimetric accumulation of the race in its complete distance, totaling 2.636 meters. While the intermediate distance of 32 km is a novelty, with 1.284 meters of accumulated altitude, in the categories of 16 and 5 km, Brasil Ride Ultra Trail Run 70k will encourage new practitioners of the sport, who are still getting used to mountain races, with totals of 636 and 137 meters of climbs, respectively. "The 5 km itself is already very dynamic and exciting. It crosses rivers, passes through the train line, pastures and trails, in a well-structured and safe race, with all necessary support and care", highlights Rafael Campos.

Agenda - The 1.300 athletes enrolled in the competition will start at Fazenda Indiana, in Botucatu, on four different routes. At 6am in the morning, the 70 km competitors will start, in individual and relay disputes (two people). Then, at 10am, it will be time for the 32 km start. At 15 pm it will be the 16 km race and, an hour later, there will be the 5 km. Kids Trail Run athletes compete at 14 pm in a symbolic competition for children aged 3 to 10 years.

"Events like the Ultra Trail Run 70k only bring benefits to the city of Botucatu. It spins the economy, especially for restaurants and the hotel chain, it promotes rural tourism, which is something very important for us. And, it offers opportunities for leisure and sports for our population and the entire region, which is becoming more and more adept at sport every day ", says the mayor of Botucatu, Mário Pardini.

Brasil Ride Ultra Trail Run 70k has the support of the Municipality of Botucatu, Unidas and SABESP - Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo.
