Botucatu (SP) - The city of Botucatu, in Cuesta Paulista, hosts this Saturday (8th) the fourth edition of the Ultra Trail Run 70k Brasil Ride. A total of 1.300 runners from 18 Brazilian states, in addition to the Federal District, will face distances of 70 km, 32 km, 16 km and 5 km in the region's trails and mountains, in addition to the kids category, with routes of 300 and 600 m. It will be the end of the season in the country of the calendar approved by the International Mountain Running Association, ITRA, with the presence of several high level athletes from the national circuit and presenting a novelty: those who complete the 32 km course also score points in the entity's ranking, and not just in the 70 km.
Among the men, there are confirmed runners like Silvanio do Nascimento, three times champion in the 70 km dispute and owner of the record of the race, with 6h19min13sec, Genival Griffo, runner-up in 2017, and the representative of Botucatu, Marilson Barduco, runner-up for two years. In the female category, Patrícia Aparecida dos Santos, current champion, will try another achievement in the main distance of the mountain race, having as main competitors Elizabete Prado, who competed in the previous three editions and was always in the top 5, and Ligia Almeida, vice- champion of the Wienerwald Ultra Trail, Austria.
In its second year within the ITRA calendar, the Ultra Trail Run 70k Brasil Ride brings something new to mountain runners. If previously only runners from the distance of 70 km added points in the ranking of the national entity, as of 2018 those who complete the 32 km within the time limit will also score in the ITRA. "This is a last-minute novelty for those registered. If on the 70 km route we already had 4 points for those who completed the dispute in the time limit, we now have the definition that in the 32 km 2 points will be offered to those who complete the race" , reveals Rafael Campos, director of Brasil Ride.
International relevance - The Ultra Trail Run 70k Brasil Ride is the last opportunity for runners to score points on Brazilian soil, aiming to qualify for important events on the world calendar, such as the French UTMB - Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc. The competition is also the last of the 2019 Trail Run World Championship selective in Portugal, as Brasil Ride's Ultra Trail Run 70k is one of five races in the country among those chosen to define who will be the Brazilian representatives in the World next season.
Full schedule - The schedule of the Ultra Trail Run 70k Brasil Ride starts on Friday (7), with the removal of the kit for all categories, between 16h and 22h, at the Ginásio Municipal Mario Covas Júnior (during the removal of the kit it will be possible to hire transfer for the day of the race, from the center to the start). At 19h the technical briefing will be held (mandatory for 32 km and 70 km). On Saturday (8) there will also be kit removal, from 9 am to 13 pm, however, only for the 16 km, 5 km and kids categories.
The 70 km start will be the first on Saturday, at 6am. At 8:00 am the transfer of the athletes from the 32 km race to the starting point, Fazenda Pedra do Índio, will start. At 10 am it will be the turn of the 32 km start. Trail Kids will be the first race in the afternoon, at 14pm. Then the 16km runners will leave at 15pm, and the 5km will end the competition, starting at 16pm. The awards are scheduled to start at 17:30 pm, in the same place where all arrivals will take place.
The Ultra Trail Run 70k Brasil Ride is supported by the Municipality of Botucatu, Unidas, Full Gas and SABESP - Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo.
